After 6 years in school you are finally finished, well almost, you just have to sit your Leaving Cert first!
Before you do that, check out our top 5 things that you will see on the first day of your Leaving Cert to prepare you!
1. Early arrivals
As its the first day of the Leaving Cert, everyone will be eager start but panicked at the thought of sitting their first exam. lt’s almost a guarantee that most people will arrive an hour before the exam in fear of missing it and not being allowed in. By day 3 people will be arriving at 9.29!
Note: It’s always best to be early, it avoids stress and aids extra cramming time!
2. The late arrival
We hate to say it, but there’s always one who hits that damn snooze button and ends up missing the exam. Everyone will be freaking out wondering where they are and how they could possibly miss their first exam, but this won’t last long as their attention will quickly turn to English Paper 2.
Note: Get to bed early and set 3 alarms in case you snooze one, even ask a friend to call you when they are on the way to the bus, this means that you have a few different ways to be woken up.
After months and months of studying, the first day of the Leaving Cert can be a bit overwhelming! You might cry because something you wanted came up or because it didn’t, there’s no real reason for your actions, but there doesn’t need to be because you’re doing the LC!
Note: Look out for your friends during the Leaving Cert and don’t be afraid to talk to a teacher, parent or friend if you feel overwhelmed during the duration of the exams!
Some of you will remember these from the Junior Cert (Now you’re thinking how did I ever stress about that?) You will be stuck with this person for the duration of your exams so fingers crossed their sound. Some may be really chatty and up for the banter, others are just there to sit and read their book. The most annoying thing about them is that they get given tea and biscuits half way through the exam! We know, why don’t you get tea and biscuits? You’re the one doing the Leaving!!
Note: Introduce yourself to them and play by the rules, they are good ones to have on your side!
5. A Leaving Cert exam paper
Ok fine, you have seen them in your past papers, but this is the real thing! Double check it’s the right exam, because there have been occasions in the past where student have received the wrong one!
Note: When you first get it make sure you fill in your exam number correctly, the examiner will double check it, but just to be sure!
Best of luck to you all! No doubt you will all do great and we look forward to seeing you at the Debs!
